TAKER

On June 17th of 2021 on a whim my friend Jarod and I planned a day to head towards defuniak springs, with no sense of direction of what to look for, just a destination in mind.

We hit up some of our friends to join us last second, and our friends Justin and Turner both agreed, so they showed up to my house and we packed our gear and all hopped into my car and took off.

I remember that day, in the car ride we all caught up with each others personal lives and talked about the future and overall had a really great time, joking around, listening to music, and making stops where ever we saw something interesting, at every stop I just fired away at every thing that caught my eye.

There was on spot in particular however that stood out from the rest, it was this decayed home we stumbled on while driving further into defuniak, into an area past the areas we knew into one we weren’t familiar with.

On the way back we stopped at a local food joint Jarod had recommended for dinner and milkshakes, after that we came back to my house and we everyone went home afterwards.

The next day, I browsed through my SD card and picked out the best shots to work on for another instagram post, but one set of pictures stood out from the rest, they were from the house. I Instantly knew I had enough material to work with that I could stitch together a zine that I’ve been wanting to make for some time at this point.

The sense of direction the project took naturally came to me, because of where I was in life and what I was feeling at that time. The music I had on rotation also influenced me heavily and took a big part in the direction and the writing for the project.

I knew for my first zine I wanted to make it short, concise and accessible to everyone as a way to get my foot through door and showcase my work in a physical format and also as a way to see the response I would get from people if would be interested, if i made more projects like this in the future.

I present you TAKER’S outtake shots that didn’t make the final cut along with some writing I didn’t include or wrote after getting it printed.

Thank you to everyone who has shown interest in this project and my previous work.
